Waterloo Catholic
Faith Formation Commission

The Catholic Parishes in Waterloo formed the
Waterloo Catholic Faith Formation Commission in 2010.  This Commission replaced separate Faith Formation Committees in each parish.

The Commission normally meets on the second Tuesday evening of the month (August through May) at 6:30pm in Putz Hall at Blessed Sacrament Parish.

The goal of the Waterloo Catholic Faith Formation Commission is to guide the parishes in sharing opportunities and resources which will better serve the catechetical needs of the Catholic people in Waterloo.

The Commission is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive catechetical plan that supports the six tasks of catechesis:
knowledge of the faith,
liturgical and moral formation,
prayer,
education for community life,
missionary service.

This catechetical plan should provide for the life-long faith formation, education and spiritual growth of adults and young adults, the elderly, adolescents, children of early childhood and catechetical age not enrolled in a Catholic school, families, persons with disabilities and the marginalized.

The Commission is guided by the directives of the General Directory for Catechesis, the National Directory for Catechesis, and applicable archdiocesan policies.
