Come to the Table
Formation for the Revised Roman Missal

Overview of Come to the Table

Come to the Table is an extended program of catechesis designed to help Catholics prepare for changes in the Mass which will occur when we begin using the revised Roman Missal in November of 2011.
Our goal is to help Catholic adults and young adults appreciate the Eucharist as the source and summit of our lives as Catholic Christians and to prepare Catholics for full, active and conscious participation in the liturgy.

Our Come to the Table series will use a variety of formats and venues to help participants appreciate how the Eucharist incorporates us into the Body of Christ and empowers us to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world.  These efforts will prepare people for the revised Roman Missal by exploring how ritual both creates and celebrates our Catholic understanding of Jesus' presence among us.
In addition to the special events listed below, the Come to the Table series will include special homilies, bulletin inserts, and other opportunities to grow in our understanding of the Mass.

As a result of this formation effort we hope Catholics in our parishes will recognize how our Catholic understanding of community, history, sacramental presence and hope offer a renewed vision for living and worshipping as Catholics in the modern world.

"Gathered and Sent" is the theme for this two-part parish mission which will help adults and young adults reflect on the role of liturgy as the source and summit of our lives as Catholic Christians.  The first evening will be held at St. Patrick Church in Cedar Falls and will explore how the Holy Spirit brings the Church together in Christ to be nourished as disciples.  The second evening will be held at St. Edward Church in Waterloo and will examine how the Holy Spirit sends us forth from Mass as agents of the Kingdom of Christ.  The mission will be conducted by Fr. Frank DeSiano CPS, president of Paulist Evangelization Ministries and author of numerous books including Mission America--Challenges and Opportunities for Catholics Today and a new parish renewal series from Paulist Evangelization Ministries, Living the Eucharist.
