Donate a Backpack
for the Homeless
• • •
Help us help the homeless by
donating to our Backpack Project.
Because
homeless people have no place to store their belongings, they
must be able to carry what they need with them. Durable,
light-weight backpacks are one convenient way homeless people
can protect and carry necessary items with them.
The Cedar
Valley Hospitality House and Cedar Valley Catholic Social
Justice Network are collecting donations to purchase backpacks
which will be donated to homeless persons living in downtown
Waterloo. You can help by contributing money which will be
used to purchase the back packs and their contents.
The backpacks we
are purchasing were recommended by a local surplus store for
their durable and lightweight construction. The contents
of the back packs were determined in discussions with homeless
persons themselves.
Each back
pack will include the following items:
•
sleeping bag
• small pillow
• rain pancho
• reusable water bottle
• flashlight and batteries
• hobo tool
• socks
• mosquito repellant
• notebook and pen
• shampoo, soap and lotion
• portable radio and batteries
•
prayer book
The cost of each back pack is $80.00.
Can you, your family, your team, a group of co-workers or
friends donate one back pack for the homeless?
