“In the kingdom of God we experience a happiness that goes
‘against the tide’ and is not based on success or well-being, but
finds its profound reason in the mystery of the Cross.  God became
man out of love, … choosing to be, in a certain sense, ‘disabled’
in order to enrich us with his poverty…. This is the paradox of
Christian hope:
what seems humanly a ruin, is in the divine plan
always a plan of salvation”.
-- Pope John Paul II, in an address to the Jubilee of the Disabled,
December 3, 2000.

“Never Alone”
Parent Support Group

Never Alone is a support group for families of children and youth with special needs sponsored by the Catholic Parishes in the Cedar Valley. We invite parents and caregivers of youth with special learning, developmental, physical or behavioral needs to join in this dialogue.  The group welcomes parents and caregivers of youth with mental illness to join as well.

This group:
Enables parents and caregivers be helpful to each other.
Helps parents/caregivers explore online and community resources.
Explores how the parishes can be more supportive and helpful to
families of youth with special needs.

The “Never Alone” support group meets when needed in the Board Room at Kimball Ridge Center (former Schoitz Hospital), 2101 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo. Meetings will be communicated through the parish bulletins and this web site.
