Opportunities for
Young Adult Catholics
The Catholic Parishes in Waterloo are eager
to provide opportunities for faith formation, enrichment and
spiritual growth for young adults age 25-35.
We welcome young adult
Catholics in all of our adult faith formation and enrichment
opportunities and we are making special efforts to provide
opportunities designed especially for young adults.
Here are some of the
opportunities for single or married young adults:
Summer and Winter at the Cellar
These popular enrichment
opportunities take place in a familiar and comfortable
environment at the Cellar Lounge in downtown Waterloo and
provide an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues and
concerns of interest to Catholic adults. They are open to
adults of all ages but usually include a number of young adults.

for more information about our Cellar programs.
Married Couples
For married couples, the parishes provide a separate section of
First Tuesday, our support and enrichment program for
couples. This section is reserved for younger married
couples, ages 25 and older, and meets monthly on the first
Tuesday evening of the month.
about First Tuesday.
Faith Sharing
For individuals or couples interested in faith-sharing or bible-study,
the parishes will form young adult faith-sharing or bible study
groups whenever a sufficient number of people are interested.
These groups will meet regularly
on a day and time to be chosen by the young adults who wish to participate.
For information contact Dave Cushing at 319-234-9912.
Continuing Spiritual Growth
For young adults who are interested in spiritual growth, the
parishes will form separate young adult sections of our spiritual growth programs,
whenever a sufficient number are
interested. These programs include a four-week
faith-sharing series, Bridges
to Contemplative Living, and our monthly spiritual
discernment groups, Companions on the Journey.

Christian Initiation and Reception
The parishes welcome young adults who wish to serve as parish sponsors or companions for individuals who are
preparing to join the Catholic Church in the Rites of Christian
Initiation or Christian Reception of Adults.
Contact the Director of Faith Formation in your parish or
the Director of Adult Faith Formation at 319-234-9912.
Parents of Young Children
For parents of young children, the parishes are in the
process of introducing a parenting formation program,
Faithful Parenting. This formation process takes place over a period of four years
and complements our baptism
preparation process. It is designed to help parents fulfill
their role as the "first heralds of faith" for their children.

Inactive and Alienated Catholics
For young adults who are inactive or consider themselves Catholic Seekers, the parishes
offer a variety of opportunities to discuss your past, present
or future relationship to the Catholic Church in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. These include
regularly scheduled "Listening Sessions" for inactive and
alienated Catholics.

about Inactive Catholics.
